Linda Hayford - AlShe/Me
Teaser
Linda Hayford
Linda Hayford is best known as an ambassador for Popping, but her dance practice has evolved through the encounter between genres and moves. Taking a crossover of styles as her starting point, the choreographer seeks an aesthetic focused on metamorphosis.
For Linda Hayford, this has become a tool to reflect on constantly changing concepts of identity, and on the complexity of not belonging.
From piece to piece Linda Hayford develops a specific vocabulary called “shifting pop”, a sensory and emotional exploration of the performer's inner metamorphoses.
Linda Hayford is co-director of the FAIR-E Collective / CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne as well as she has been developing her personal projects with Cie Inside Out since 2015.
In AlShe/Me she performs alongside her older brother, Mike Hayford (aka. Iron Mike) the same man who introduced her to Popping and who is a prominent figure in the battle and dance community. Together they explore the metamorphoses and physical transformations that take place, as influences play out, between two close beings. Questioning their differences as well as their similarities, she confirms the power of an expressive, fluid dance.
